The shepheard hotel history was in 1841, through a
modest building in
Elazbakia neighborhood. The building was named "The British Hotel" . Then
hotel owner "Hill' gave up the hotel to Samuel Shepherd and it became the
shepheared hotel. The hotel was caught fire in January 1952 during the great
fire of Cairo. The Egyptian government decided to rebuild the hotel and
moved its location to Garden City residential quarter, overlooking the Nile
of Cairo and was inaugurated in 1957 with the same name.
